1. Man Vs. Machine: The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Вестиме: William De Michele, is a student at The University of Melbourne, Australia. He is studying Artificial Intelligence and loves exploring the ideas of Man vs Machine and The Rights of Robots. Outside his studies, he loves all things sports, including the greatest game of all, the Australian Football Rules (AFL).

Introducing the possibilities of AI, following with the shortcomings of AI, and finally ending on some ethical issues within the AI field, notably:

• How do we prevent AI from performing unintended bias;
• Who is liable for AI failures;
• How do we protect AI from bad actors;
• Robot rights, among other topics.

2. All about Butterflies

We will be reading and writing all about wonderful butterflies.

4. Ukrainians on the Canadian Prairies

Вестиме: Jim Hawrylenko, is currently an online ESL instructor at a college in Edmonton. He started out teaching in Canada’s far north, then taught high school French and Business in rural Alberta, eventually heading overseas to teach. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, biking, hiking and cooking, and baking for friends and family.

Roughly 11 percent of the population of the Canadian Prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) is ethnically Ukrainian (over 715,000 people). The region’s history is filled with stories of Ukrainian settlement. Learn more about the contribution Ukrainian settlers have made to Canada and in particular, the Prairie provinces.
