3. All Around the World: Part 8 School Holidays

Do American kids have their summer break in July and August, like most of Europe? Which countries celebrate Christmas during their summer holidays? Do all countries have the same time off in the summer? We are going to look at the differences in the school vacations, and also learn what kids in other countries like to do during their summer break.

4. Force and Motion Science

Today we will play with force and motion! Gravity, friction, pushes, and pulls are everywhere. When we build things or play sports we are doing Science. Bring a toy to this lesson (maybe with wheels).

5. Card Games to Play with Friends and Family

We will learn card games that we can play with a deck of 52 cards. We will learn how to play the game with other people using the same deck of cards. We will also play the game with a partner in a Breakout Room on Zoom. Please bring a standard deck of 52 cards if you have one. (If you do not have a deck of cards you are still welcome to join the lesson!)

6. Paper Engineering

What can you make with paper? Anything your imagination desires! Join Edmonton Public Library as we build miniature furniture, cars, bridges, buildings, and anything you can dream of. If you’d like to follow along, please bring paper and tape/glue.
